Short Story Wednesday: 2/16/2022
Short Story: Where we post a comic or small story, that’s a sketch or completed. Legally Blind Peter a young boy is talking to one of his friends and they are doing homework together. His friend notices he’s squinting at his homework while he writes down the written information. The girl: (A little confused) If you don’t mind answering, why do you squint at everything? Do you need new glasses? Peter: (Smiles a little) Ah, I’m legally blind, so I need to look closely at things to read them. The girl: (Tilts her head) Legally blind? What, does that mean? Peter: (holds up a finger) Give me a sec (Goes to his family’s basement and pulls out a briefcase. He then comes back and says cheekily) It means, I carry around a briefcase!

Written Bit Saturday- Where we post a small part of something written, that is a work in progress. Work: A written scene, from “A Way to Understand”. I originally used Sally and Francesco, but I realized Francesco isn't the teasing type, so I picked Carl and Kayla instead (laughing out loud). Rude Much (At a pharmacist and grocery store, Kayla who is using a white cane is getting medication for herself., Concerta specifically, her mom and dad are there too) (Her brother Carl, who was busy running around the store, comes and teases her by “cutting” in line. Kayla is “not” completely blind, so she does see a moving shadow blob thing, who is the same height and body type as her brother) Kayla: (in a teasing matter) Hey! The girl at the counter: (Angrily) Hey! There’s a line! Kayla: *laughs* No we are siblings! We’re just messing around with each other! Carl: (nods nervously) The girl: Oh! That makes sense; I was worried I had to call security or something…

Manager (The Bryd family are eating at Grow an Dine and Peter is eight and he’s just learning to be a waiter) Howard: Can I please get a bowl of vegetables, please? Peter: (writes that down) What, else can I get for you? Howard: (nods a little) That’s it Peter, thank you. Peter: (Frowns) That’s it? But vegetables are sooo easy to do! You normally order fish without any sauce with a side of fresh vegetables; can I get that for you too? Howard: (A little irritated, but given Peter’s age, he tries being understanding) I want a bowl of vegetables, salad without dressing or croutons is O.K. too, can I have salad?
